PAR 5 GOLF DAY 2023

On Monday 20th February I had the pleasure to attend and partner with the PAR 5 annual golf day held at Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club.

Par 5 is an exciting Pancare initiative, striving to deliver more sustainable funding into cancer research projects focused on new treatments, to ultimately improve survival rates for upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancer which – collectively – sit at just 20% to 5 years. PAR 5 golf day is supported by Business owners and their executives.

The back story as to why I was in attendance was my nephew Brett Rutley generously donated a TaylorMade Championship golf bag to our BUGIC Foundation a few months ago. We knew whatever we did with this bag it had to be smart and the plan was to raise as much money as we could from such an amazing item. We then worked with the PAR 5 team to make it the major item in what was then called Rutley’s Raffle.

I had the pleasure to not only meet Doug Hawkins (CEO Pancare), James Stewart (Head of Commercial) and many of the wonderful Pancare team but also Keon Stevenson (fellow Pancare patient), Dr David Burnett (Margin Clear), Michael Roberts (MC / St Kilda champion) and Tony Shaw (Collingwood Legend). The fantastic outcome was that the raffle has “unofficially” raised over $8000.

I was overwhelmed, still am to be honest, humbled and so proud that BUGIC Foundation could contribute to such an amazing event which will have such a positive impact to so many in the future.

To Brett Rutley - thank you so much young man. What a simple decision you made which will make an enormous positive impact to so many. You should be very proud of yourself as we are all very proud of you.
