TREK FOR HOPE 2022, 4 Peaks VIC

In 2022 team “Poppy Ruts” excelled once again.

As part of our ongoing support for Pancare my son Aaron took the initiative and took part in the TREK FOR HOPE 2022, 4 Peaks challenge. The challenge is an opportunity to experience the natural beauty of the Victorian Alps, from native gumtree forests to alpine lakes and beautiful wildflower fields. As part of this tough physical challenge, over four days they climbed the four highest peaks in Victoria!. But what really sets this adventure apart is that, with every step they took, they raised vital funds to help Pancare Foundation further upper gastrointestinal cancer research.

Together with his best mates Doug, Greg (aka Gary) and James, brother in law and son in law of Poppy Ruts they joined forces with some of the fantastic Pancare team, cancer patients and their family members and the TREK experts from Inspired Adventures. The boys completed the grueling 4 days without missing a beat.

In the end, with help from so many generous people, they raised over $21,000 which was nearly 50% of the total monies raised by Pancare. They increased their target 5 times and doubled the amount team “Poppy Ruts” raised the year before. Truly amazing and to say I am a proud father is an understatement.

The passion and drive that not only Aaron showed but also Doug, Gary and James shows the quality humans they are and their families are all so so proud of them and what they have achieved.

Thanks to the Pancare team and Inspired Adventures we kept it a secret that my wife Debra and I were going to surprise the boys at the end of the TREK. This was extremely emotional and I am so grateful I got the chance to do and something I will never forget. It was also such a pleasure to meet everybody plus some of the Pancare team face to face. They could speak highly enough of the boys and enjoyed every minute with them.
