Battle Upper GI Cancer

At the BUGIC Foundation our goal is to help support Upper GI cancer sufferers and their families through their day to day battle, promote awareness and contribute to fundraising for research into and treatment of those cancers.

My name is Grant, “aka” Poppy Ruts and Billy. I am 58 years old and in October 2020 was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal Biliary cancer. I am the founder of the BUGIC Foundation and want to use my cancer experience to help as many people I can and who are also taking a journey and battle fighting cancer.

What we ask is for your help to raise funds to support the battle, awareness and research. The unfortunate reality is that those of us that have an upper GI cancer, “time is not our friend”, and need to assist the experts to find effective treatments and cures.

One of our primary objectives it to drive our excellent relationship with the Pancare Foundation to the next level and build a partnership to focus on various initiatives including:

• Early patient engagement of the PanSupport dedicated support, resource and information service available for all Australians affected by upper gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, such as pancreatic, liver, stomach, biliary and oesophageal cancers.

• Improved awareness of Upper GI cancers in GP clinics, Public / Private hospitals and the broader community.

• Direct investment into Research projects.
